It’s this weekend!

The Gravy Pud Fell Race is taking place this weekend from the usual venue of the Bulls Head Pub, Tintwistle.  Early entries have been positive and it’s looking like a good field will be assembled for the race.  The proceeds from this years race are to be donated to the Sea Shell Trust and further details can be found here.  The charity works with children, able and disabled bodied to help them participate in sport together therefore making sporting experiences fully inclusive.

Race start time is 11am and the race will follow the usual route which wasn’t used last year due to the bad snow which fell during the week.  Hopefully this year we wont have such challenging circumstances and everyone will be able to enjoy the nice run up Lees Hill!

Please park respectfully of local residents and in order not to block the main road through Tintwistle village.  And don’t forget the cake competition!!!

60 do battle on revised course

On a cold snowy day, 60 hardy souls did battle on the revised running of the Gravy Pud, which for one day only was known as the Gravy Round the Resers Pud Race.  The race measured at 5.59 miles was a great success.  Ice on route made sections challenging but most seemed to miss having to struggle up Lees Hill on the normal course.  Mens winner was Sale Harriers Gareth Raven who recently spent 4 weeks in Kenya on the edge of the Rift Valley altitude training with UKA.  First lady was Donna Jones also from Sale Harriers who also won the Manchester league cross country the day before.  Many thanks to all who turned up this morning to race, help with the race or just to donate to Jades Wheels which was this years charity chosen for the race proceeds.  Full results available from the results listed on the right of the page.
Thank you

A race will go on!

It’s not good news for the Gravy Pud fell race as the course is too dangerous with parts of the route covered in very deep snow.  Therefore this makes the Gravy Pud off, but a race will be held tomorrow morning, same venue and time 11am, on the Round the Resers Race course.  I have run this route this morning and it is safe for a race to be held on.  Please come along and support this event where proceeds from the race are for ‘Jades Wheels’.  Registration will be at the Bulls Head, Tintwistle.  Registration opens at 9.45am.  (Please come with correct money if possible, or even pay £5 instead of £4 as it is for a very good cause!) If possible please print a standard entry form off the Fellrunners website and complete at home to speed up the registration process.  Entry forms are available at race HQ if you do not have access to a printer.  Even though the village is passable by cars, please park mindfully of other village users and respect residents parking.  There is lots of parking around Tintwistle the other side of the village.
If anyone has any questiuons I will be at the Manchester League Cross Country this afternioon (Saturday 4th December) and contactable by e-mail on Any questions just send us an e-mail.
Obviously, if more snow arrives over night I will have to reassess the situation early tomorrow.
Thank you very much for eveyones support in making this a successful event.
